Gun Storage
Does anyone have experience with silicone impregnated cloths like "Bore Stores" ( http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/sto...aspx?p=1850&s= )
I was thinking it might be good to store my Luger in it to prevent rust, but I'm a bit worried. I seem to remember other people using things like this and the silicon attracted moisture to the gun, or somehow caused corrosion, instead of keeping rust away. Does anyone here store guns in stuff like the above? |
I store almost all my pistols in bore stores and have for years. Never heard anything bad about them.
Silicon would not attract moisture, the cloth they use possibly could, but I would not use them if I'd ever heard bad things about them... |
Do not use such a cloth, wrapping a gun in it, while storing the gun inside a holster, whatever the chemical reaction is, it can cause surface damage....

I keep mine in Bore Stores as well. I've heard nothing but good about them

I store mine in the small USED priority mail boxes, turned inside out. (The boxes not the guns):D

IĆ¢??ve been wiping my guns with a silicone impregnated rag for years and have not had any rust so far.

I store mine in racks in a humidity controled safe. Never had a rust problem in over10 years.

I use bore stores for hand and long guns

OK, I'll bite: What's a bore store?
I just make sure all my guns have a heavy coating of oil, inside and out and review them periodically. |

Silicon impregented, they also protect the pistol (when I drop them or bang them together when carrying them). My ideal, which I have not done yet, is to buy the boxes that stack and I can mark the end, then leave them inside with the bore store. I take my guns out frequently from the gunsafe, as I am conducting research a lot the last 2 years ;) Ed |
