Erfurt ?
 

I have a erfurt Luger with all matching serial numbers including the magazine . My question is This gun has no date stamped on the gun . Is this correct all the erfurt lugers I have seen have the date stamped on the top of the gun . The toggle is marked erfurt and has a 82 along with all the other parts in the gun the last 2 digits in the serial number are 82 so I figured it should be all original .



Thanks for any help I know very little about these guns and any help would be much appreciated .

This gun is from a estate and there for I have no real history for the gun .

Not sure why the date would have been ground off. What are the proofs on the right? That might explain a bit, if it has Erfurt proofs (and is all matching), then that might tell us something. If it is Weimar proofs, and the Erfurt toggle matches, then the toggle is a force match by someone...

It is a sear and magazine safety police. Those two safety's were put on in 1933 and the magazine safety made inoperable in the late 1930's to almost all guns. Is yours snipped off by the trigger? Hard to tell by the pictures, it might appear to be mostly there, but 95% of the time they are inoperable.

Guys first I would like to say Thank you for helping me

There are no marlings on the front strap or the right side of the gun . I do not think there ever was a date code on the chamber there is no evidence of any grinding the metal all looks the same and not lower at any point . I will post more pictures of the markings on the front of the gun .

This gun is from the estate of a 50+ year collector who passed away a few months ago .

I hope these pictures help . I am trying to decide what this gun is worth and if I am going to buy it from the estate for myself or put it up for auction for the estate . I have listed alot of guns for the estate and think I should eep a few for my collection . A $ figure on this gun would be a big help .

It appears that this pistol underwent rework for police service, and during that process the barrel/receiver combination was replaced. As there are no markings on expected places found on either the barrel or receceiver, it is not possible to deduce their source.
