1911a1 holster question
 

I picked up this milwaukee saddlery holster dated 1944, it is in good condtion but has some cracks in the leather, leather is still plyable,no tears of holes.stitching is all there. It looks like someone has staind the front black. I picked it up at a local antique store for 19$ otd. what is the value of an item like this.

The holster is worth about what you paid for it, possibly more to a collector if it has no loose stitching... Some of them go for two or three times what you paid... check ebay for similar holsters that have already sold to get a closer idea. You can do this my using the advanced search function on ebay... search for "1911" "Colt" "holster" as your search terms and check the Completed Listings Only block...

Maybe a bit more, I think $35-$45 in this condition ;)

No more than $20 is right--it looks like it was dyed black (see backside along the edges) and the dye has been rubbed/fading or someone tried to remove it. Common for WWII holsters to have been dyed in 1956-57 when the Army went to black instead of brown leather items.
