GT magazines!

Just got some GT magazines. Here are pictures of the wood bottomed Navy and an Aluminum bottomed. The Navies have GT on the bottom. I am afraid that my pictures do not do them justice. I like the GT marking, because there will never be that many and I figure they will be important down the road. You get a supurb working magazine plus very much in the mold of the originals. Thanks, Jayhawk21

Very nice. I don't know why, but I like the little engraving they did in the wood bottomed magazine. How much did those set you back?

GT Magazines

The Navy magazines were $50.00 and I furnished the Original Meg Gar magazines. The marking on the bottom Is GT's sign. He just started doing that. I figured that down the road it might mean something in terms of its worth. He doesn't do that many relative to Meg Gar's production. Plus I figure if he is good enough to do work for Martz I would like to own something made by him. He has a recent posting in the last month or so. Plus I understand he is working on a Bakelite bottom for the extruded late WW2 magazines. I have not worked my way through all of the craftsman on the Forum, but so far I am extremely happy with Hugh Clark and LugerDoc [Tom Heller] work along with GT. Thor is next. Thanks Jayhawk21

GT does really nice work. Funny thing is, I was going to buy some bottoms from GT and we both just never followed through (that was 2 or 3 years ago ;))

GT has made me some bottoms for two baby mags I plan to have installed in Mec Gar mag bodies. I want to make a baby double mag pouch to go with them. They have 9MM inscribed on the bottom. Can't wait to see his fantastic work! Jerry Burney

I'm pretty certain that GT's mag bottoms should be submitted to the Museum of Art in NY.... Yea - they really are that beautiful....

Just my $0.000002

Art Buchanan who is modifying the MecGars and installing the mag bottoms just wrote and told me how beautiful GT's Baby mag bottoms are! I am anxious to see these and make a nice double mag pouch for them...Thanks GT! Jerry

mag bottoms

Hi Jerry, Paul, JD, and Hi to all! Thanks to all for all the kind words... it seems that as I make these Luger mag. bottoms, there is always something to learn... So, the mag. bottoms sent to Art for Jerry and to Paul, are probably my best efforts to date... As I learn more about wood and finish, they seem to slowly improve.. hard to measure over 20 years!! The measuring stick that I really go by, and always have gone by, is the approval of Mr. John V. Martz.... Looks like as long as he's making Lugers, I'll be making mag. bottoms!! :) Best to all, and Thanks again, til...lat'r...GT

GT, I hope that you and John continue your fine work for many years to come. TH

I might as well stick my GT in here too. Also it is not just the bottom, this one has GT's improved spring which is also a great addition.
