5 Didgit ???
 

I was looking at a DWM in 30 cal that has 5 didgits in the SN and nothing marked on the chamber. It has the crown over n under the barrel and on the left side. It is germany marked and all matching. I guess why I am confused is this is the first luger I have had with more than 4 SN didgits and no date Is there any way to date this pistol. Thanks Clint

If you look in the commericial section you will see a sticky for Dwights efforts at gathering commericial serial numbers, etc. I own 44693 and if I remember right, that puts it at 1909...

They used the commericial numbers then transitioned to the military style the Weimar era lugers, called Alphabet lugers by Jan Still, (If anyone wants a Weimar Luger book, I'd buy it while Jan Still has then available)...

Is this the Luger you reported in the database discussion a bit earlier? DWM Commercial Lugers were numbered up to five digits 1900-1921, and if I knew the number I might be able to date it to a greater or lesser degree of accuracy.
