New to lugers
 

I am mostly a rifle collector , my best friend ( is computer illiterate) has a 1916 luger that has all matching serial nos., even on the magazine, it says ER FU RT on it, has three imperial crowns and an eagle on it the serial no. is 96xx. it is in excelent condition and has a black leather holster that is also marked 1916. I thank you for any input provided.

Erfurt was the gov't arsenal where they were made, 1916 is the year. I would guess there is a letter under the front serial number, a suffix of a, b, c, d, etc., one of those letters. If it does not have one, then it was one of the first 10,000 made that year, not that, that makes it more valuable ;)

There were approx 80,000 Erfurts made in 1916, in the no suffix to the g suffix range.

NOTE: Although you were correct in placing it in this section, I have moved it to the New Collector area ;)

Thanks, it is one with no suffix, I am going to try to post a picture of it monday, it is a really nice gun. Lugers havent ever really been my cup of tea, but I have learned a lot about them over the last couple of days here.
