Looks like a nice honest piece. On the left side, I have the same darkening on one of my simsons', unsure what caused it, if it was wood planks, I'd swear it was leaves...
slightly lightened http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload...ry_france2.jpg http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload...ery_france.jpg |
A nice arty 10e.licorne! Probably a lot of history in that Luger.
Hard to tell from pictures, but the toggle might look a little 'too good' compared to the rest? Congratulations with it! |
Hi Sorriaux,
Would you mind indicating if your luger's serial number has a letter-suffix on the front of the frame just below the seial number, above the trigger guard ? This may help Jan Still and others who keep track of the serial number range of such LP-08'. The 1918's Artilleries were a much smaller number than the previous years production. All photos lightened up : http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/arty_1918_1.jpg http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/arty_1918_2.jpg http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/arty_1918_3.jpg http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/arty_1918_4.jpg http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/arty_1918_5.jpg http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/arty_1918_6.jpg http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/arty_1918_7.jpg http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/arty_1918_8.jpg |
hi pete
no prefix behind the serial number http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload...918detail7.jpg http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload...918detail8.jpg for morgan all serial number matching toggle too it seen an "artist" as reblue with a "gunbleue" some parts and they become with the time more brown best regards from France jean marie ( for pete and else) |
Licorne,
the only comment that I could add is that, from the above pictures, is that the two digit serial numbers on the 'Locking Bolt' look like '99' and not '44'. Are the grips numbered to the gun? Nice photography. Big Norm |
hi big norm
it's a 44 http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload...918detail9.jpg for the grip it's seen to be change may be in the same time when the artist as reblue the barrel (or before ?) we can see an a blow of grinding stone "coup de meule in french" on one, and an "L" on the auther wat do you think for ? http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload...18detail10.jpg sorry for my english best regards from France |
Licorne,
The '44' on the Locking Bolt once again proves that there is no substitute for physically looking at the gun. The 'L' on the bottom side of the grip is probably an inspectors mark. The wood/stain appears to be different between the two sides of the grips but its good enough. I just bought myself a new digital camera and so I am closely watching what everyone is doing with their pictures. I have no plans to take pictures of myself with my new camera for fear that I may break it. :) Big Norm |
