Ok...I went a purchased a Luger book that looked like it had every proof stamp and inspection mark known to man. Except the one that's on this gun!!!! If anyone can help or advise, it would be greatly appreciated.

This first of four, according to the book, should only be on the 1908 model...this is a model 1914 stamped military pistol. Why would it be on this model?

The fourth seems to be a simple Test Fire Stamp.

The second and third stamp....I haven't a clue. There is nothing in my book that even resembles these two stamps.

I have drawn out the symbols as they do not show up well in an actual photo... I hope my pictionary skills are up to snuff.

the forth is a common Imperial German proof,pre Nazi era,shows up on weapons since the late 1800's

drawing is kinda obscured to make out what the third is suppose to be,more than likely a simple inspection proof,they very from one to another and your book is more than likely simply giving an sample example,atleast this is true for rifles from the era

What book do you have?

The markings roughly translate into C/X C/Q C/B Test proof.

In my data base I have the following:
1914 DWM 468 on right receiver C/X C/Q C/B test proof
1914 DWM 1426 on right receiver C/X C/Q C/B test proof

Your 1914 DWM has normal acceptance stamps and test proof on its right receiver. Nothing unusual or to be concerned about.

For my data base what is the serial number of your 1914 DWM?

Seriously, best to state, Need help on WW1 markings. It helps in visuals searches.

Aaron Davis' "books" , IMHO, are not worth the paper that they are printed on. The reference was once offered free with a subscription to Gun List. One subscriber wrote that the only value it had was that it was free.

I concur with Garfield's opinion on Davis first book on Lugers... because of it's reputation, I haven't bothered to look at his second book.
