1936 Ebay Holster

Hi
New to lugers and looking to set-up a Rig for my 1936 s/42. I picked up this holster on ebay and thought I might ask about it in hindsight.
Ebay item #120049797445. I will try and upload some photos

SGT, you were doing fine, you dropped the url into the message, which is not bad, to make them show, you then tell the computer to make the image appear, on this system, it is [img] and after you are done (no space in the command).

As collectors we try to buy a holster that is made that year, that is mostly correct, but not completely. As a german soldier took what was in the system. That said, for myself, I feel that a year before, that year or the year after is "correct".

Keep in mind that if you have a army pistol, then ensure you get a army holster, a navy, then a navy and a police a police style holster.

On Weimar police, I feel as long as it is within the corrrect era it is correct, as you seldom find the "year" your luger was made...

Ed,

I guess that begs a question...Ive seen brown and black...what was normally issue at the time?

it depends, now this is the police answer, which I know for sure;

for police, the brown was rural, the black was municipal...

many collectors feel the brown was for air force and the black was army. I believe there is a truth in that, as the army required all holsters to be dyed black in the mid 1920's. but I have heard and seen brown army holsters as well as black. Before this time, many holsters were brown, so you will find them black dyed on the front (fading many times) and definately brown on the rear.
