Why do folks say they are looking?
 

Over the last couple of months, I have heard several folks say they are earnestly looking for a shooter, they can't find them for under $2,000 ANYWHERE, and they look and look. Yet there are 2 or 3 "shooter' lugers, each for around $650, one that includes a nice WW1 holster for $850 and no takers and have been several for sale for a month or two.


And if say; 5 folks have bemoaned about this issued, there must be 5 times that many looking who never post...


So, do folks just complain, did they spend their money for christmas already, did we reach the end of the road for shooter luger values going up, or? ;)

My gut feeling is that they say they want a "shooter" and when they see it is not pristine, they wait longer... :p If that is the case, save up and buy a nice collectable, just don't shoot it :D

Ed: I tend to agree with your statement that when they see it's not in pristine condition they wait longer. I have 2 shooters in fair/decent condition and I just enjoy oiling and admiring the rest of them. Brent B.

Did a Pinto survive? haven't seen one in 15 years.

We've got a Pinto delivery in town. Got a 427 'vette engine in it. I think the back is filled with concrete to keep it on the ground.

I think some people would complain if you sold them gold for a penny a pound:(It's soo heavy).

Just an idea, but why don't we start a 'shooter' forum. A separate post for photos of shooters. Then the newbees can see what a shooter is.

We have become pretty jaded with wanting to look at and own the best, the rarest and the highest grades. Maybe we should show what we shoot. And be Honest about what we paid for it.

I am for it, we can start a new thread and i will sticky at the top, if we get a lot of piccies, we can see where it goes....

PS: Does it count if one of my shooters hasn't been shot yet...

Heck yeah, that's the whole point. Sometimes you have to build a shooter to get one, I built one of mine and refurbing another.

Ron, my point is that I bought a nice 6 inch "shooter" and haven't been out shooting yet. Too hard "living" in town. Was a hell of a lot easier to go out to the barn and shoot a box when i lived in Palouse... :(

Otherwise, my shooter is this one; I paid $350 for it, was my first Luger, and I knew it was buffed bad and reblued, but she shoots very nice. Really likes those solid core through an engine block 9mm :cool:

I know a shooter is supposed to be non-matching and/or re-finished gun in the neighborhood of $500. Still I can't resist shooting any of my three $1000+ relics even thoug I know I could easilly turn it into a $500 shooter by breaking the extractor. Then I look to see that a new full-size Springfield 1911A1 typically runs well over $1000 and I wonder.....

BTW The Navy-style shooter I hope to find is way off in the future now; my wife informs me that property taxes are coming due with their one-two punch.

EB, Please send me that 6" shooter. I'll find some place for it to let a few rounds off.:)
