Russian captures

Another beginner question - any thoughts about what became of the artillery lugers captured on the eastern front? I recall 4" bbl lugers coming in from Russia some time ago, like the K98s that are currently on the market. I don't recall seeing any Lugers with longer barrels, or C96s either, from the Russian sources. It would be great if they still exist and could be imported, even if "arsenal refinished". Dave

Dave...Artillery Lugers were primarily used in WW1 and so very few would have been captured when the Germans lost so heavily in Russia. The Artillery pistol would have been very scarce there. Jerry Burney

my understanding is that many of these weapons were locked into caves with no attempt at controling the humidity. After sixty years, many of them would be too rusted to be restored profitably. Many of the remaining weapons were sent off to China, Korea and Veit Nam where they were shot out or otherwise destroyed. I think that Ed Tinker has an interest in the Lugers sent off to Nam. You can find many C-96's at big gun shows at were imported from China.
