Interesting bit of reading
From the Seminole, Oklahoma, THE PRODUCER (newspaper):
July 11, 1927 A gun battle in front of city hall last night left holes in nearby automobiles and wounded D.R. Adams, "an innocent bystander." Sifted out of all the rumors about the gun fight, it appeared that one A.E. Yancy, who had followed with a crowd when police took two arrested persons to the city jail, expressed resentment at the arrests and pulled out a Luger and started shooting. Four police officers started firing back at Yancy. The hospital removed a Luger slug from the thigh of Adams, who was a bystander and had no part in the shooting. No mention was made of the outcome for the participants ! |
Nothing happened to them so it was not news worthy ??
|
The same story in 2006 would have read:
Mr. Yancy confessed that he wasnâ??t potty trained properly, and that he never got what he wanted for Christmas. The Seminole police gave him a firm scolding , fined him five dollars and released him on his own recognizance. |
add to the 2006 story, that the evil Luger pistol was melted down for it's obvious sinister behavior! :(
