Developed in Reno, NV by a John F. Petritsch...a wire-frame luger stock, US Patent # 1477445 filed in 1923 :

Pete....I can't believe you found this. I have a friend who has one and has been trying without success for a long time to find out what it is. (wire stock nr.1) I have tried the frame attached to see how it feels and it is very comfortable. It's actually made out of one piece of steel bent into this shape, quite ingenious in design, and very sturdy. Once again your research helps us all! Thanks!!!!

The thanks should go to Martin Krause, firearms author, who lives in Germany.

He emailed some collectors a composite listing of all patents from all countries associated with the Luger.

I just found a web site which lists many of the US patents for the Luger without having to pay a fee for access to the patent documents.

Unfortunately, these pdf-files on the web site are protected and one can only view...not print.

Glad your friend has an answer. I am sure his stock might be quite valuable ;). I would have him look into the BATF legalities of attaching one to any Luger...:(

BTW...any chance your friend would allow you to take photos for posting. I and others would probably love to see one "in person"...or at least in photos !!!

You need to know the US or DE patent number to enter it into the search.

Try patent # DE544859 for a different type of trommel magazine Simson & Co. Suhl filed in 1931/1932. Once the results are shown, click on the "original documents" tab along the top and the original documents and illustrations will show up.

Here are the results for the Simson & Co TM-08 (...I am sure this will wake up Ed Tinker...) as now he has something else to add to his Simson & Co. collection ;)

It is a carbine-type stock that remote mountes the Luger trigger back to the stock area. This is way cool !!! But then you need to cut your trigger guard off the Luger...:(

Thanks Pete, Martin sent this to me last winter, it is already in my book. I should say our book, Graham and I are up to 189 pages, not counting his 4 or 5 Simson' pictures to add (probably 2 pages per each of his Simsons).

We expect to publish in the Spring at the latest...

German gunsmith Herbert Werle (who is an original LF member) even redesigned the thumb safety for the Luger in 2004. Imagine over 100 years later, folks are still working out the better design details of Georg's pistol :

When saving the file to your hard drive, the file save window pops up to ask you :

1. File name

2. Save As Type --- (here you can change the pdf-file type to a jpeg file type)

Or if you have the pdf-file on your HD and you have opened it and you can see the pdf-file on your screen, do the File Save again and switch the type, then.

Pietro...couldn't gat jpeg as an option....did the Jrry Burney trick and took pics. Also came out fine.....G
