Navy magazine
Is this a true navy magazine?? It has a crown over the letter "M"

Yes it is... What is your price?
|
I'm still re-searching the value, as well as trying to find another magazine for my luger which matches it's 1920 commercial era.
My luger pics are under the newbie section. |

Thank's for the crop job pete.

Craig,
I could not tell for sure from the photo; are there numbers along the wood ? Also, you might want to post up left and right side photos so folks can see the tube condition and the retainer pin details and whether it has concentric circles in the wood or not. BTW...I have seen authentic, nice Navy magazines go for $ 250 -350 at shows in the past 1.5 years. |
Pete,
Ron Wood belived that It may be a early navy due to the fact that It does not have concentric circles. I'll post better pic's ASAP http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload...arge_copy2.jpg http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload...arge_copy1.jpg Craig |
Actually I placed it as an early magazine due to the placement of the serial number along the long axis of the base and indicated that some Navy magazines are known without concentric rings, particularly the early ones.
|
Sorry for the mis-quote Ron.
This magazine still seems to elude just exactly where it belongs, any more Info would be very helpful. |
I would think that it is the magazine from a later Navy Luger. My collection includes a 1917 Navy with just such a magazine matched to the pistol and original.

George ..you are correct. The concentric ringed mags were made for the 1904, 1906 and the 1908. The plain bottom mags started showing up on the 1914 navies. But it is not uncommon to find the concentric ringed mags on the 1914 models.

So the early style of numbering along the long axis of the base carried through on the Navies until the end?
