Jeff Cooper

I read with sadness today, on Culver's Shooting Page, about the passing of gun writer Jeff Cooper. He was loud, proud, bombastic, and a pontificator; but always entertaining. He will be missed.

Mike:(

P.S. The 1911 is a very fine and interesting gun too!!

Tac, that is why you are so endeared here... :D

Jeff Cooper was also one tough hombre... I have been entertained by him for years... He and Elmer Keith are the gun writers I grew up with...

He had a website at http://www.frfrogspad.com/

Elmer Keith was a pure gentleman, I would not put the two in the same sentence. I am very pleased to have a signed Keith book among the several of his I own.....never bothered to buy anything Cooper.

I'm afraid I'm with Howard on this one. Elmer Keith, Skeeter Skelton and Bill Jordan, men of accomplishment. Cooper talked a good show. Although his passing is unfortunate.

I agree with all. I liked Skeeter alot, read Bill Jordan, and even George Nonte. But Elmer Keith was full of cr*p, but he could do it!! Not to mention the strides in gun and cartridge development he was responsible for.

Although I didn't always agree with the good Mr. Cooper, I'd not speak badly of him after his passing. Like him or hate him, he was iconic in the gun industry and elsewhere. I'll miss reading his rants and proclimations...

Rest in peace Jeff Cooper. :(

I spent part of the day at a local IPSC match...As an RO I asked participants to observe a moment of silence in memory of Mr. Jeff Cooper...who is probably the man behind IPSC as we know today...

Being a LE Firearms Instructor, I can state that most modern techniques of combat pistolcraft were put forward by Cooper...His contribution in that field was / is significant & for that I have much respect...He was one of the ``great instructors``.

I always looked foward to reading his thoughts. I didn't always agree with him. But :Like him, or hate him. He always stuck to his guns and told it like he saw it.He will be missed.
