1917 DWM Arty

Should the axle pin on an "h" suffix 1917 artillery be numbered?

Thanks for any help,
Jack

Imperial Lugers were not manufactured with a numbered main pin. The numbers were added by armories during or after 1932 (As I recall).

What about on a 1918 DWM military proofed luger (non-artillery), should the rear axel on those be numbered?

According to G¶rtz & Bryans, the instruction for stamping the rear toggle pin was issued in 1932. NO original toggle pin, on any Luger manufactured before that date, should be numbered.

The added numbers on the main toggle pin (or a new numbered pin) are frequently observed on Imperial or Weimar era Lugers that remained in police or military service during during 1932 or after.

Thanks for the questions and the answersl
I've been meaning to ask about this myself. The answer for my 1920 police Luger seems to be that it is not the original pin but was replaced during or after 1932.
