Repair or replace magazine holder catch?

My Luger has been almost 100% reliable for me but when several others tried the gun it usually jammed on every round. Today I went to the range to try to figure out what was going on. Turns out that I have been using a two hand hold and my non shooting hand has been holding the magazine up. The magazine has at least 1/8â? of vertical movement and if I donâ??t hold it up the gun jams on me. I tried a brand new Mec-Gar magazine and it still had the same problem, so I suspect that the magazine holder catch is worn. If there are any other tests I should do to confirm this please let me know!

Is it feasible to have the magazine holder catch repaired or would it be more practical to get a replacement part?

Thanks,

Chris

I'd replace it, and keep the orginal.. Although if you replace it with a used older part, its about the same, I don't think that is a numbered part, but like I said, keep the original and you can always pop it back in if you wanted....

Ed, Since this is an easily replaceable unnumbed part and inexpensive ($5 to $15 depending on finish condition), I'd give it a try. If "new" doesn't improve your situation, you can alway return it and just be out the postage. I do also have new unused strawed ones for the 1970s Mauser Parabellum @$25 + $2 for snail mail. Tom
