P08 Cleaning Rod
This came along with a byf rig , and I know it is for an earlier P08. Can anyone tell me if this is original or not, and what a fair [pice would be for this? No visible marks as far as I can tell. Thanks Gentlemen,

looks original to me Joe, but let's hear some consensus from others before we call it a fact...

Joe, It difficult to verify originality with actually examining the rod, but it is the small loop type that was used with the Portugese BYF/42 PO8s in their M43 holsters. The earlier Weimar era Police ones were the large loop type and usually unblued. TH

Thanks veyr much Gentlemen, I will pullt his from the safe and take a very clsoe look at it, as well as better pics and post them. I have never owned a Portugese P08, so not sure why this was included with my byf41 rig. Thanks again Gentlemen,

Here are some better detailed pics of the cleaning rod, hope these can help identify it, thanks very much Gentlemen,
Joe:) http://members.shaw.ca/jnkubat/clrodp08%20001.jpg http://members.shaw.ca/jnkubat/clrodp08%20002.jpg http://members.shaw.ca/jnkubat/clrodp08%20003.jpg http://members.shaw.ca/jnkubat/clrodp08%20004.jpg http://members.shaw.ca/jnkubat/clrodp08%20005.jpg http://members.shaw.ca/jnkubat/clrodp08%20006.jpg |
Joe, I would say that your rod is original, since the none theaded end is slight rounded and the repros where generally cut off square. Also most of the n & m range 42 BYFs from Portugal were originally exported to Canada, these a good chance of finding the accessories up there. Tom

Since we now have such fine photos from josef,
perhaps someone have pictures of a fake rod(s) to compare with? |
Thank you very much Gentlemen. I was hoping it would be for a German P08, rather than a Portugese. I have never seen a Portugese P08 before, their holsters must have had a slot for the rods? Thanks again for your expertise Gentlemen, it's a great forum!

Joe,
I have 2 M943 ``m`` block Portugese Rigs ( one of each produced: blued & parkerized ) The rod is very similar to the ones issued with those and with the above comments made, I believe it's probably a Portugese one... I probably have pics somewhere, send email for such...you have my info... Marc |
Thank you very much Marc!:)
