Mechanical Accuracy of a Luger?
For the experienced here, what do you think the average mechanical accuracy of a P.08 4" bbl luger is capable of with good ammo? Does accuracy vary considerably with other luger models, bbl lengths, or specific guns?
With all human error factored out, what MOA do you think one could get or maybe an X" group at X yards. This also, for those who shoot their Lugers, what kind of accuracy do you get out of one with human error factored in? I'm mainly just asking out of curiousity and wondering how they compare to modern pistols in that respect. (My luger is a safe queen, and I'm a terrible shot and don't own any rests in the first place!) |
Greg,
A Luger, in most cases, in the right hands and good ammo will be one of the most accurate handguns that you will ever shoot. I have had 1" off hand groups at 25 yds. My Navy shooter with stock attached, I have gotten 3" groups at 100 yds. resting on my elbows. Lugers at one time, were the preferred match pistols. Ron |
