Obvious question, Pete,

Are either of these stocks or the forearm legal for any Luger anywhere at all in the USA?

Russell, I wondered this too, I think two ways folks look at it;

1. These are okay if used on guns that originally had stocks (you can not use a wood stock on a 4 inch)

2. Only exact replicas may be used on a gun that originally had a stock.

There is a listing of what guns can have stocks, so these may not be all of them; artillery's, navies, and the orginal fold out stock like my friend Viggo made...

BATFE has a room for you at the Crowbar Hotel if you get caught with that stock attached to ANY pistol.

Thanks Ed & Tom,

Option #2 is what I'm thinking based upon what John Sabato has pointed to in past threads. I am wondering more about the rare 16+inch carbines or if one wished to create a carbine from any old shooter by adding a long barrel and the woodwork. I¡¦m mostly just fantasizing at this point.

Put a 16+ barrel on any Luger with a stock lug and you are home free.

It is interesting to note that for the hollow artillery stock the seller mentions "The overall stock length makes aiming and shooting difficult because of excess length, it looks great but not too practical". I am sure the length is a bit long but what makes it really impractical is the fact that the attaching piece is upside down. If the stock was turned over, the "drop" would be much less severe. As it is now, you would probably have to tuck the stock under your arm to get the sights down where you could see them (unless you have a neck that is about a foot long).

Ron,

Yeah , but then the belt loops would be on the wrong side , and you would have to put the pistol in the other way and stuff!! Ya gotta look at the whole picture... :D

I'm thinkin' they weren't thinkin'... pretty weird stock.
