Walther Model 4
My mother-in-law just aquired a Walther Model 4. From what I can find out it looks to be an early type 2. I'm wondering if the gun is military issue due to the slide being serial numbered to the frame. Both are numbered on the left instead of the right side. Also, the top of the barrel, ahead of the chamber is stamped with an M. Possible navy issue? The front left trigger guard is also stamped with some type of design in a shield. I'll try to take photos of it.
Where would I find some detailed info and maybe some parts. Any good Walther forums about? |

Also try www.p38forum.com in the General section. Lots of good collectors there can help too.

Some World War I Walther Model 4s were subcontracted and the left triggerguard was marked to indicate such. GM = Gebr¼der Merkel, Suhl Merkel brothers. See link below: Jan Walther M4 Meffert subcontractor variations Fritz http://luger.gunboards.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3997 |
Thanks, Jan
