A FRIEND HAS OFFERED TO SELL ME A S/42-1937 CHAMBER DATE W/ISSUED 1937 HOLSTER,TAKE DOWN TOOL,2 ORIGINAL MAGS.ONE MAG IS NUMBERED TO THE PISTOL,BOTH ARE EAGLE/63. PISTOL IS 99%,HOLSTER IN EX. COND.WAS A VET BRING BACK.WHAT IS A FAIR PRICE TO PAY FOR THIS RIG?

The 1937 S/42 came in both rust blue with strawed small parts, and hot salt blue with blued small parts. Any military Luger in 99% original condition is a very rare pistol, with the early finish 1937 bringing a little more than the later finish.

The full retail for the rig in 99% condition would be approx. $1700. The dealer buy price would be in the $1300 range. When you get to a rig in 99% condition, the price can almost be anything, just according to how bad a collector wants this great condition. I hope some others can help on the value.

If the pistol is a true 99% original finish and all matching, the pistol and matching magazine are worth somewhere in the $1300/$1400 range. The excellent holster with correctly proofed tool and mismatched magazine are worth another $325/350.

Marvin, you bring up a good point! 99% in a matched rig (if it is authentic) is so unusual in a military model that it can bring whatever the collector is willing to pay. Since many people are buying their first Luger, the terms 99%, "rig", 'all matching', 'correct' etc. are totally meaningless. I have a strong feeling that most people pay more for their earlier purchases than they are worth (once they learn about the trade of Luger collecting). It's an expensive hobby to get the knack of.

W/ALL MATCHING NOS.CLIP,GRIPS,HOLSTER IS A GENSCHOW&CO.A.G./BERLIN-WaA337-1937.TOOL IS E/63 MRKD.IVE DOWN GRADED MY%EST TO THE 97%.ANY COMMENTS ARE APPRECIATED ,EVEN THE NAY-SAYERS
