Hello guys,

I need you opinion about this holster :

What is it? a M935, a M943? a fake? a non-portuguese model?

Francois It certaintly looks like a 1943 Portuguese holster for the 1943 luger contract of 4000 lugers. I have owned two of these. The only difference I can see by the picture is the belt straps seem more narrow than mine were. They were a unique holster and only used on this contract. Real or good reproduction I can't say. I would vote for authentic...

Here are a couple of others for sale on the Internet.

I have one as well with a 4-digit luger gun number stamped on the front of the holster.

On Joe Salter's site, click on his "luger" section and you will see another with lots of good photos down the page a bit. You can compare those photos with your holster :

Here are two better shots :

I'm gone to see Joe Salter's site and I saw that he has two identical M943 hoslters for sale. One costs $450 and the other $695. Isn't it too much and why such a difference between them?

Yes, pricing of these is very high and they have been for sale for some time.

I bought mine, in better condition that these, only 2 years ago for $ 200 plush shipping costs.

Thanks for opinion Pete.

As I (unfortunately) do not own a portuguese 1943 pistol, I'm not really interested by keeping this hoslter.
If somebody is interested, just make an offer

Hello guys,

Here's what it looks like after a good cleaning, especially of copper parts.

It's really in excellent+ condition (I think it's unissued - no pistol imprint inside)...
So nice housing for my pistol that I do not sale it anymore, but maybe a trade for a nice german commercial :)

Cheers,

Francois,

Could you explain how you cleaned up the leather of your Portuguese holster ? It looks very nice.

BTW...I normally clean the "brass" hardware just a little to remove the green corrosion only but I like to keep the patina and age on the brass so it shows its history and age better. But that is just my opinion and my personal preference.

I usually just use a clean white cotton cloth to remove the green corrosion from the brass hardward and leather...nothing more.

Hello Pete,
For leather, I just use products for cleaning shoes and colourless shoe-wax .
For copper, I did try white cotton cloth, but it was ineffective on green corrosion. I used "Mirror" and now, copper shines like a... mirror.:)
