It spoke to me
|
Its been speaking to me for a long time.....I should have listened, glad it found a nice home
|
John,
A very nice police re-work. I have seen it for a while also. It's about time someone nailed it. Congratulations! Not a bad deal... Ron |
I came back here with much trepidation as to my decision and your opinion. I feel a lot better now. Thank you all very much for sharing your knowlege with me.
|
John,
Here is another way to look at your $ 1800 win on the auction. Holster at about $ 250, price of an extra magazine about $ 120, TD tool another $ 100...your price on the luger by itself is very good. |
John,
Pete's dead-on. You got a good price on it. I would have jumped on it, but couldn't afford it, and all of the others that I found. Congratulations!! |
Thank you both for the good word. I'm surprised that I've actually gotten one right. You know I've become afflicted by that dreaded disease.
|
You ever want out....let me know, as I would live to add this to my collection...was just busy buying other police Lugers...serious.
|
Well bought! It had been speaking to me but I got too busy and didn't listen. I just sold a rig VERY similar to the one you purchased and was going to use this one to replace it. I got significantly more for my rig than you paid. I would say VERY well bought.

Ron, How did you know it was a police re-work from the photos?
|
John,
Congratulations on a good buy! When you get it, please look at the marking on the back of the holster below the maker's mark and see if you can make out what it was before it was stippled out. It looks like it may have been a Landj¤gerei marking (L.?.??.). Many of the 1929 Cobau holsters went to the Landj¤gerei. |
OK Don. I've received the piece and I will return with the info as it is at my brother's house at the moment.
|
Near as I can make out without a mag.glass, it's stamped L.Ka.59. Although lower case, the a is as tall as the K. There may be a no. 1 between the L. and the K.
|
John,
If the marking is L.Ka.59., it is from the Landj¤gerei (rural police) of the Prussian district of Kassel. |
Thanks for the additional info Don. It really helps complete the history for me and adds to my interest in these pistols. Thanks again.
