registering a "O" series luger
good evening guys and gals, i have a odd question, i just pick up a "O" sufix luger in the 2xxx range and how and what do i register it as?? All four here, the 1936 ,1939, 42-41, and the byf-41 all had 2xxx serial numbers with "O" sufixs, so if i register it as a 2xxx O then i just might have a problem, if i leave off the "O" I might have even a bigger problem if theres a stolen luger with that serial number. I cannot even get around this by registering it as a mauser alone . please advise as i am new to lugers and trying to be a good citizen. thank-you jon

Re: registering a "O" series luger
Hi Jon! The correct way to register your Luger is to use all the information available to you....so, for example, I would write a serial number as follows (hypothetical, of course) byf 41 6xxx a ......that should do it! Your safe unless they repeated the serials and the codes during production, and that would be rare, if not nonexistant! till...later....G.T.

Re: registering a "O" series luger
You did not indicate the year of manufacture, but if 1936 I would record it as a 1936 S/42 No.2XXXo. None of the Lugers for a given year repeated the suffix as the K98k's did. Even then they went to the double suffix.

Don't register it at ALL, if you can avoid it!
Why put a nice gun on a future confiscation list? |
