Probably class of '17 or '18 neither would be more than eighteen years old, if that. It's interesting that both are wearing the pistols on the left side which seems odd for right-handers. The trench knives on left lead me to assume that they are right-handed. Perhaps just a staged photo using company weapons.

HEY!!! One of those guys has one of my artilleries. Anyway, thats what I think everytime I see one of these pictures. :)

It's my understanding that European military men (& boys) have usually worn their pistols on their left. Cross-drawing them with their right hand as their left hand holds open the holster top. Some holsters have a leather tab connected to an internal strap. When the tab is pulled with one hand, the pistol will rise up in the holster, making it easier to remove with the other hand. This kind of holster really works best for the right-handed if worn on the left.

The repro CMR Navy holster has the pull-strap to lift the pistol up, it is needed since the entire pistol and grip is tightly surrounded by the holster. Not exactly made for quick draw.

Being a leftly I can't wear it on the left side, I would need to wear it on the right hip, I would then need to open the flap with the right hand, pull the tab with the left hand to lift the pistol , extract the pistol with the right and finally transfer the pistol to the left to shoot....phew...or just shoot two handed.
