What the H$%^ is this?
![]() Working on Tom Norwood's excellent byf 42 and noticed a nice sharp stamp on the frame just above the front trigger guard and just below and behind the take down lever slot. Is this a VOPO or inspector's mark. My guess is VOPO due to the sunburst! I will keep this one on his gun! Nice clear proof/stamp. ~Thor~

Re: What the H$%^ is this?
Ted,
It sure looks like a VOPO stamp to me. As you know I am not home with my reference books, but take a look in Buxton's Vol. 3 on P.38s. I think he shows some of the VOPO stamps there and you may be able to identify it. Marvin |
The Gypsy had one of those...
![]() only it had number "26" inside the shield. The reponses I got back to my enquiries were that it was a VOPO stamp.
Only Thor can tell me if it still exists... Dok http://209.25.36.37/LesCenter/SN-RecLeft.jpg |
Re: E.German markings
According to Warren Buxton on pages 16 & 17 of vol3 of his P38 Pistols, the number on the shield surrounded by a sunburst, is that of a particular inspector. He's observered numbers ranging from 1 to 30.
