VoPo grip ingredients

Just received a set of good solid VoPo grips to use off and on instead of my nice Nills.

The outside of the grip plastic is best described as very very very dark amber. I had to do a small bit of fitting and filing into the material and it leaves fibrous tufts on the edges. Inside the grips I can see bits of thread, and what looks like small pieces of cloth trapped in the (resin?) matrix.

Just what where these made of?

Looks like macerated dish cloths dipped in maple syrup:D

I once adjusted a set to fit a 1906 grip safety pistol. The filings were indeed some weird green fluff. These grips are probably just as indestructable as the Trabant bodywork :)

The filler for the plastic ranges from saw dust to wood chips to string ,rope, rags, paper just what they had on hand the Luger grips being thin probably had the only the finest string.Czechs seem to be the most creative going by the ingredients in their AK bayonet handles and the CZ58 rifle stocks.

Hello Fabian,

Have you tried to "flame polish" the edges on the grips you have filed down with a small propane torch.

I do such with plexiglas projects where I flame polish edges I have sanded or filed and the flame makes it very smooth and highly polished.

I wonder if you might have similar results with the VOPO grips (???)
