I have one S-42, dated 1916. Part numbers are numbered by 31 number, serial number is 4723. What I have got???

If I understand your description correctly, it sounds to me like you've a parts gun. The S/42 model is a WWII issue, so that is out of synch with the 1916 date, and if all the parts are numbered 31 and your serial number ends in 23, then what you have is a shooter. Value about $500.

Thank you very much,Mr.Dok, and I am think that, so, I have got one of two guns, partialy conpleted trough last time. Yugoslav army gunmakers made it from parts in old army stock dated after WW2, I bought it 20 years ago. I like him so much and I like join in your Club. Also we have it in my country so much, and I will try to collect more Lugers. I will inform you about.

Hi Filip,


What you have is a pistol assembled from parts taken from a number of different pistols. In essence, itâ??s what collectors call a â??parts gun.â?� No collector value, but it retains its shooter value.

Welcome Filip! There is a lot to learn about Lugers and This is one good place to start. People have told you that what you have is a 'shooter' or 'parts' Luger. That is true. But there are things to learn about the parts of your Luger too. Now, the S-42 on the toggle. Is it a large 'S' with a small '42'? That would be what is called a 'G' date toggle assembly. A 'G' date Luger is a pre-war (1935) with a 'G' on top of the gun where you now have '1916'.


If your toogle assembly has a fancy or (scripted or Gothic) 'S', then that is a 'K' date Luger and that part would be for a 1934 Luger. This would also be of the top of the Luger where you now have the year 1916.


I can not help you much more because this is not the era of Lugers that I search for. But other collectors are sometimes looking for parts to make their Lugers what is called matching guns or collectible guns. 'G' or 'K' date Lugers are valuable to some collectors and your parts may be valuable to them, particularly if they are in good, original condition.


On this forum there are all sorts of different levels of Luger people. Some are only looking for excellent, like-new Lugers and some only want a Luger to enjoy the shooting experience. But we all are learning a lot about the history of this weapon. And we try to have some fun doing it.

I am only Luger lover and I am ready to change my parts which are numbered with 31 and 90 with gentlemans which need these numbers, for same parts, it doesnt mater which number. Place for bullets are numbered as 122? I dont know what is my realy, origine number, because gun was been renumbered to 5215 in Yugoslav army.

Leter S is bigger than /42, and this part is numbered as 31.

Gun is uncredibly nice, and I think that he had "make up" after WWII.

Thank for long answer, I hope that my next Lugers will be colectable, not shooters.
