new production of MP38 and MP44
 

Looks like some company will start up production MP38/44???

This is amazing... I hope one of our German language fluent members can determine if in fact these guns are available as a semi-automatic only... if this is so, and can be imported into the USA, they will be able to sell a boatload of these... provide that ATF determines that they can be imported and cannot easily be reworked into full-auto. I am really impressed by the photos and the parts lists.

John, my German is rusty.. from what I can read, they are semi-autos. ( the mp44 repro is 'single action') They claim the reproduction is so close to the original, that several of its parts can be used in original ww2 guns.
Anyway, I think the marked must be aimed for the US, as I believe guns like these would be 'illegal' in most European countries..

Very nice. The Stg44 would be acceptable as a firearm for sports shooters over here. 10-shot semi-auto capacity, made as a semi-auto only, brilliant.

Now, if they'd produce one in .223 remington, it would be heaven :)

A fellow shooter at my club uses a down converted (semi auto only) original Stg44 for fun during 'military rifle' shoots. I try not to shoot in the berth of the right of him, those cases coming out and flying past your nose are just plain scary :eek:

That's why we have separate 'booths' at our club, with foam lining along the wall, which will catch the cases.

When shooting my Lugers, most of my cases end up on the small ceiling that protects the target transporter pulley system.

At the club we have the separate booths, but if you shoot 100m+ at Harskamp, it aaaall one big open firing point ;)

I hope the new Stg44 will be more accurate than the original, the guy who shoots it is a good shot normally, but gets much below average with this particular rifle.

Anyone know what the accuracy reputation for it was during WWII? Was it more of a�¨'spray 'n pray' weapon?

If we take away those who cant buy it in their country ..those who donâ??t want to buy ..cant afford to buy and those who are not lugerforum members ;) I hope there might be have someone left to tell us how they work in new thread some day.

To get out a little frustration.. I must tell this little â??storyâ??, I recently had to deactivate perfectly good working US M1 carabine. :grr: It was impossible for me to find some one capable of getting a licence to purchase it from me. Only those who work within the police can register such rifle for recreational shooting. ?? donâ??t ask me why..
Some years ago I had a Ruger mini 14 ranch rifle, it came with two 30 round magazine and lots of other accessories not needed for hunting. That rifle is perfectly legal to own.. Due to itâ??s accuracy I didnâ??t find it suitable for hunting at all, therefore I sold it.
So.. if a gun looks like something the Terminator would use, that doesnâ??t matter as long as itâ??s on a list of firearms accepted for hunting. Only those on the list can be registred..

Morgan, A very welcome find indeed! The MP38-40 is almost as well known by the Average person as the Luger.

I wouldn't get my hopes up too much for it to be imported to the States. Some pansy will declare it an "assault weapon" and ban it. At any rate, it won't be available with the collapsable stock since the barrel is only about 10-inches long, and the mag will have to be plugged to 10 rounds or less.

I did some inquiries and a friend who had the opportunity to try and test one, also owns several original examples of the MP38/40. He said the replica was OK.

A well working replika then..
interesting that there is big enough market to start such production. I quess quite many machines must be bought to make them also.

Yes, it is a bit disappointing. I never hankered for a bullet hose, but this one is just cute enough to be tempting.

I hate to rain on you'lls parade, but an open-bolt semi-auto is strictly verboten these days; importation or domestic manufacture. The first SMG I owned was a bnz MP-40. Paid $400 in '73.

Mark, read the thread again and you will see that the USA members have already determined that importation and purchase are not likely to happen here... but our non-USA members who live where this is legal are lucky to be able to buy something like this... remember that this is an international forum... we have nearly 3800 members... from all over the world.

Wish I had been smart enough to get into Class 3 firearms when I could have afforded it... back in the 60's and 70's... If I had collected even a few back then and sold them now, it would have financed my Luger addiction for quite a few years... Do you still own that MP-40?

My uncle had an MP40 that he mailed home from Italy during WW2 while serving under Patton in a Tank recovery crew. I remember being allowed to handle it a couple of times when I was a kid. At his funeral a few years ago I asked my cousin whatever happened to it. No one seems to know. It just quit being around one day, probably late 1970s. I'll bet it was never amnestied and I suppose it could be buried somewhere on the Idaho Farm.

Your Uncle could also have torched it and the parts disposed of to make sure no one in your family went to jail after he was gone! :eek:
