Interesting photos RK... very interesting in that I have seen a photo of the soldier holding the LP-08 in the first photo before... in a photo of him done in an overcoat with him LP-08 holster on his belt. Imagine the chances of fnding a photo of the same soldier from WW1 in a different pose?

Thanks for sharing. I think I will move this thread to the Artillery Luger forum instead of General Discussions...

Really nice photo. A beautiful set of Artys

Roadkill 06-06-2006 04:56 PM

They have lanyards, holsters, last dude is holding a pipe. The grenades are attached to their belts with a clip. Even the guy in the back has a Luger stuck in his belt. Anyway they are with the 4. Batt. Feld-Artl.-Regt. No.83, or Feld-Artillerie-Regt. Prinz-Regent Luitpold von Bayern (Magdeburgisches) Nr.4(Magdeburg) IV Armee Korps

A really great photograph. Is the back marked?

Ron Wood 06-06-2006 07:26 PM

A little retouch and adjustment

Nothing on the back, thanks Ron, I can see the cannon and a luger holster in the background. The officer is engaged, hence the ring on his left hand. My assumption is that someting just happened and they are posing as a result. Had to have been up close hence the Lugers and grenades.

This is one for Jerry Burney...did you notice the lanyards on the Lugers?!!

Really an exceptionally good photo. Maybe when something this good and unusual comes up on the forum, we should have a place to keep it for future members. The drawings of the other stuff would be neat to keep too. I look at these photos and I wonder if one of those artilleries is in my collection.

Ya know, one guy has an artillery in his belt but he also has a holster. Maybe these guys were showing off their newly acquired pistols.

Guys the place to "keep" these types of images for future members is called the Members Gallery. Those images never get deleted. You can upload them there instead of here and then just reference those photos in your postings instead of here where they can expire...

just a suggestion...

You can even see that the left Luger in the first photo has a round in the chamber from the raised extractor. KFS

Don M 06-15-2006 07:48 PM

Is the holster in the background between the two guys on the left a police-style?

............

Karl,
yah, it looks like the guys Luger is loaded. A close look suggests that the officers Artillery Luger is also loaded (maybe). Great picture.

RK, Where did you see these? Are any for sale? I am writing a magazine article on the Luger lanyard and could beg borrow buy or steal the photo's with the lanyards on Artillery pistols. Let me know! Thanks, Jerry

GerColctor 06-15-2006 10:48 PM

DonM
That is an artillary style holster. It's closure strap looks like the future police style.

Is that guy an officer or an NCO? He is wearing an enlisted mans belt. He has the IC I and most of the other guys have the IC II ribbon. They all have seen some action prior to this picture.

Great photo, thanks for sharing.
Joe
