bullets for 7.65 Luger.

Went to a local shop and found some Hornaday .30 cal 90 grain XTP/HP in stock. The box is marked .308 but the bullets mic at .309 in. Does anyone have any load experience with this bullet. Total length is .515 in. Any load info would be appreciated. Cannot find this bullet in any of my manuals. Thanks David. P. S. retain price was $12.68 a hundred.

If they mike that diameter and not .311 or .312 you could use any date for a 93 gr bullet and just start low! In my 30 Lugers it takes a stiff load to make it eject the road and lock back the hold open. A great caliber, I need to try out those 60 gr HP that Hughs says sent me to bust Armadillos with. I will have to find a coyote or jack rabbit, as we dont have any snail rats here! Ted

I have been using Hornady's 90gr.HP/XTP with 5.5 (five point five)grains of Accurate Arms AAC-5. This does not always lock the toggle back after the last round is fired from the magazine. You may want to obtain the article by John Kronfeld in "Handloader" No.182, August 1996.

I have not fired this load for accuracy. I've only shot it to see if the pistol will function with it. I was shooting over sandbags at a steel pig at 100 meters. This ammo fed fine from the magazine; however, the toggle/slide did not always lock back. The bullet box shows it as Hornady 90 gr. XTP/HP, Qty. 100, #31000. I obtained them from Midway.
