What a heart break...

Heinz 05-21-2006 10:04 AM

Ron, do not despair, this will probably show up later as a rare and desirable one of a kind luger. Just one stage in the life of a Luger.

Ron Smith 05-21-2006 10:57 AM

Heinz,

You're probably right.

Ron

Pete Ebbink 05-21-2006 12:25 PM

Hey Ron,

Figured I would snag you with my tease...:D

Ron Smith 05-21-2006 12:32 PM

Pete,

This is Ron's mom. He can't play with you anymore. ;)

Pete Ebbink 05-21-2006 12:47 PM

Actually...if I collected Erfurts and had them all, I would not mind adding this one to the safe for my Erfurt shooter. Plating job is nice and it looks like a nice luger underneath it all. I think a pair of brown plastic Mauser grips would complete the doll job on this gun. And a brown M1929 Swiss Bern magazine as well.

Ron Smith 05-21-2006 01:58 PM

The bid has already gone over the price I would pay for it. I would consider $400 and then try to get it restored. $500+ is too much as far as I'm concerned.

You will soon hear from "somebody" that this Luger was captured by one of his relatives during the war, from an SS general. We all know that high ranking SS officers all carried chromed Lugers and bayonets.

Hi all;

I know I am late as usual, I think the auction on this has ended but just wanted to add a note; Ron's idea of having this restored is a good one. I have a 06 Navy that was nickel plated then restored latter. The platting protected the metal very well the base gun didn't have any pits in it. It would depend on how much buffing they did before the plating job. If you can get them cheap enough most plated guns make excellent restoration canidates.

I guess I am the only one on this forum that actually likes nickel plated Lugers. I would be happy to have that Erfurt in my collection.

Bob, you aren't the only one, these guys are just prejudiced ;) I like them to an extent, not my favorites, but I think every collection should have a vet bring back that he decided to "shine" up. It is part of its history.

I have had several, and I am "un-nickle ownered" right now ;)

Ed...Perhaps in a past life you were a pimp?

Edward Tinker 06-15-2006 11:04 PM

anything is possible, if I was "crass" I'd say, then maybe... :D

Ron Smith 06-15-2006 11:34 PM

Ed was a U-Boat commander in a past life. U-Boat Lugers are his passion. :D
