holster marks
Was it normal to put unit ID on holsters? Have one with E.Sch.II.881 upper right hand corner on back. A crown with a I or L under it between straps. Take down tool is also stamped 881 With 3 very small marks on other side. Cant tell 1st,second looks like a pinapple third looks like a 8. Any Ideas

Just like on police guns or army guns, unit marking is much scarcer than without...

John,
Look a bit harder at the unit mark. I'll bet the E is really an S. If so, this mark indicates weapon #881 of the Schutzpolizei (larger city uniformed police) of Command II in the Prussian district of Schleswig in the province of Schleswig-Holstein. Based on my recent research, I believe Command II was the city of Kiel. Photos of this holster and its markings would be a great help in identifying it further. |
