A Milestone

My fellow LugerForum members,

I would like to announce the graduation of my youngest daughter from Colorado University, College of Engineering, Computer Science Department. She receives a B.S. degree in Computer Science and Engineering. She graduates with a 3.96 GPA, Magna Cum Laud, Tau Beta Pi engineering honor society, Golden Key Int'l Honor Society, Nat'l Dean's Honor Roll, Nat'l Chancellor's Honor Roll. She has been accepted in the graduate school for this fall.

My daughter's graduation is the culmination of 21 years of dedicated effort, as she was birthed at home (with me as the attending mid-wife) and was home schooled from kindergarten through high school by my wife. (You see, we are both old hippies!) My daughter has never set foot inside a public school building until college.

Thanks for your patience during this rant.

Good job Wes. I couldn't agree more regarding the US government schools and the NEA.

Wes,

Congratulations to your daughter, and "well done" to you and your wife. Don't hear from you very often, but when we do its the good stuff.

After a second read... a "gun enthusiast" hippie... I think not Baron... Old Maybe... a hippie? Nah!

Excellent news! Congradulations to you and congradulations to that very accomplished young engineer. That is not an easy school. But her earlier ones probably were not either.

YAY!

There is no method of braggin' on one's offspring which may be camouflaged to appear as modest or humble. So please accept my pride with a wink and smile.

Heinz, you are very correct concerning the rigor of my daughter's primary and secondary education. The first eight years we gave our children the necessary tools to think critically. This involved vast quantities of rote memorization and repetition. The remaining years were devoted to subjects requiring quite a bit of independent thinking.

Our other daughter will graduate May 2007. Same degree. Very similar GPA and honors. So, hang on. I'll be back!

Thanks to you men for your words of congratulations.

There is no substitution for great parenting to our children. Well done Wes and your spouse! America needs more people participating in the job of raising their offspring properly.

Jack
