What kind of animal is this?
I'm a newbie, just learning about the various vintages, and an ad on AuctionArms.com has got me confused. The seller describes the gun as "1934 Mauser byf 41." He has photos, which show a nice gun with "41" on the chanber. The view of the toggle assembly doesn't extend beyond the extractor. There's no strawing on the gun, so to me it looks like a Luger made in 1941, not 1934. Am I correct? Getting warm? Thanks.
PS you can find this on the first page of the "Curios & Relics" section. Seller wants $1,250.00. |
Re: What kind of animal is this?
Don,
Apparently the seller is using the terminology found in Kenyons "Lugers at Random". You are correct in assuming that the pistol is a byf 41 dated Mauser. It also would not have the strawed parts. i haven't gone and looked atthe book but I think Kenyon used this terminology for all of the Mauser Lugers from the K date through the byf 42.
