Resurrection
 

With some help from one of my fellow members here at Luger Forum(many thanks to Russ!), I was able to bring this LA-22 back to life. I am still awaiting the safety lever and catch. I've actually managed to get my wife asking me if we can go to the range:p , but she still only like .22's . Maybe I can get her to catch the Luger bug with this little fella.

When its finally shooting let us know what you have to do to make the magazine feed. Neither of mine will.

I dry ran some rounds through it and did run into some issues. I have two mags for it. One I bought off ebay and the other came with the parts I got. Both work in the gun and will feed, but there are subtle differences that may be why some do and don't work. The one with the black bottom came with the parts. The silver one I bought separately. The biggest difference I found was the little hold open tab on the follower is bigger on the black one than on the silver one. The silver one feeds nicely while the black one seems to angle the rounds too far up. This may have to do with the tab. Also I notice that the rounds in the black one do not all sit at the same angle. The first one sits along the follower and the rest sit at a shallower angle than the one before it. The silver one, all the rounds sit at the same angle as the follower. I again attribute this to the tab. I know this may not mean much, once I fire it, but its a start.

Well, I am glad I didn't spend a whole lot on it then. Hopefully all will work out. I'll keep you guys up to speed. Anything else to watch out for, I'd like to hear from you.

Stefan, The black bottomed mag in your photo is the original and the bright one is a Triple K repro. The balance of the FP & recoil springs is critical on these Erma 22s and may change with shooting. As I recall, The Erma lugers perfer standard velocity 22LR and the Stoegers require the high velocity. TH

Resurrection update
 

I got my new safety on Monday and finished assembly of the Erma. Today after work I stopped by the range and popped off about 150 rounds. The first two mags had me thinking there were goimg to be alot of problems. I most cases the shells ejected but a new one failed to load. I persisted, and varied the amount of bullets I loaded. The last 6 always seemed to fire flawlessly. Long story short, after a few more mags, I was able to shoot a full load with only maybe 1 in 30 misfeeding. I was using the Federal in the 550ct box from Wallymart. I also had some PMC Sidewinders. I thought they would be trouble as they were not jacketed rounds and the softer tips would pose a feed problem. Nope, they loaded and reloaded straight-away. I used the silver bottomed mag (pictured above), as I forgot to bring the other one with me. I'll be interested to see if it works as well. Below is my first target. My first two shots with the gun are high and outside the rings. I love firing this gun and its accuracy, I hardly felt like I was aiming.

Don't forget to keep it well lubricated... those .22's are dirty.

Rgr that! Since I had to build it from scratch, I am intimately familiar with how to strip it down.
