million dollar chip + 1
Quote:
I will buy some cyanoacrolate instant glue and will put it back on. I am still scratching my head on exactly how this happened. I lifted the grip up just enough to clear the bottom of the frame and the chip fell off as soon as I began to lift it. No pressure was applied. |
Chris,
It is very likely that the chip was already broken in place, and simply separated when you removed the grip plate. Your comment that it stays in place when the grip is returned suggests this; I also have a Luger for which this is the case. --Dwight |
Hugh Clark is well known to be able to repair these types of breaks... I suggest you contact him if the superglue doesn't do the trick. It may not work if the wood has any oil content. Good Luck.

I would send it to Hugh before I tried any repairs on my own. I'm sure he can do a better repair on a clean break than on one that has been repaired before. I would contact him (it's free ) and get the masters thoughts on this.

Use a little Super Glue and it should be ok. The oil in the grip will actually make the Super Glue set up faster, so it may be wise to get the slower setting type.

I am sorry to hear that this happened to you. I also broke the chip on my first stainless gun. I bought a set of replacemnt grips but they are light in color so I keep them in reserve but use the one with the chip.
It is easy to do even when careful! Steve Richards |
