Is this mag authentic or repro?
1 Attachment(s)
In the photo below the bottom mag is authentic from a 1923 Commercial.
The top mag is the one I am curious about. There are a couple of differences and I am not sure if it is a reproduction or if it is period correct (and if so, for what type of Luger?) The main differences are the matte finish, and the lack of checkering on the thumb button - it has concentric circles instead. Also the machining of the aluminum base is a little different. Neither have any markings. Thanks, -- Dan |
Dan:
Top mag is Dannish post WWII. I would think a 1923, bottom, would have a wood bottom mag. Regards Ken D |
Kem unsure about the Dannish part (I am sure you are right), but top post-ww2 and bottom ok. I have thought of trying to start a "web-page" on various magazines, my problem is I am stupid as **** in remembering and figuring out various magazines...
  maybe if I start it and then "add" pictures that I find here or folks send me? Ed |
I was not sure what the top Magazine was, but they sure do work well. I have one I use for a shooter Luger. Thanks for the information about the Magazine, I thought they were post WWII.

Dan, The top mag is definately Danish. I have a couple like it with the bottoms marked "made in Denmark" available @$50 each. The bottom tube does indeed appear to be Weimar production. TH

I have a pair of mags that look like the Danish mag but are unmarked on the base. I had always wondered where they came from. Is it possible that all the mag bases were not marked by the Danes?

Mine has no markings, but does have a line where it looks like two halves were joined.
Would these unmarked Danish mags have been used by the Germans in late WWII or were they used after the war commercially? -- Dan |
My mags also have a similar line. I'm sure this is just a casting mark from the mold as these are cast bottoms.
|
I believe the line on the mag bottom in the photo above is from the joint in the mold halves, but that the mag bottom itself was cast in one piece.
|
All of these post war Danish mags that I've seen, marked or unmarked, have the same casting flaw. TH
