WTK: Value of WW1 Broomhandle

I hope this post is OK as it does not pertain to a Luger.

I came across a Broomhandle Mauser today. It is the full-size frame in .30 cal. It is marked Waffenfarik Mauser on the top and has about a six digit serial number.

All numbers match. On the side of the pistol is an inscription from the GI who brought it back from WW1 that has his name/outfit, the day/time it was captured,

and the location (the Ardennes.) The finish overall is very nice with only a little wear on the edges of the moving parts and very slight wear at the tip of the muzzle.

It has many crown and eagle type proofs on it. It has the loop ring under the handle. The wood looks very nice also with only minor dings. The seller wants $1,000

for it.

I know I haven't given a lot to go on, but is this the ballpark for this type of pistol? How valuable is it? Is the value effected by the inscription on the side?

Any information is appreciated,

Lance Langdon
