Got an Arty!
1 Attachment(s)
Iâ??ve been wanting an Artillery for a while, but have not had enough cash to get a true collectable. Takes a while to find one under a grand â?? narrowly missed one on Simpsonâ??s a while ago. Finally found one!
This is a 1917 chamber dated DWM Artillery. It would be much more collectable were it not made up from two Lugers: s/n 1150 on frame and all frame attached parts, and s/n 4162F on barrel/extension and all attached upper parts. All frame parts match, all upper parts match. Came with an aluminum base magazine, un-numbered, which is NOT correct. Should be wood base numbered and proofed. Not sure if this mag is a repro or an original but later part. Iâ??ll be looking for a PC mag. Original rust blue finish with patina, probably 70% on average, although varies from place to place. Strawed parts look like little strawing left except for ejector, which looks excellent. Still some fire blue on the front sight, rear sight slide, main toggle pins, flat springs. Interior of frame and cannon is in the white. I believe it had been in storage for many years. It had what looked like brown dried thickened oil on most parts, and had that musty smell of storage & old oils. Perhaps a candidate for a restoration. But I figured Iâ??d ask if anyone has itâ??s polar opposite counterpart before I contemplate such a thing: Frame s/n 4162F and Artillery upper 1150? -- Dan http://img471.imageshack.us/img471/9...lbottom.th.jpg http://img471.imageshack.us/img471/6...pBreech.th.jpg http://img471.imageshack.us/img471/9...eechInv.th.jpg http://img471.imageshack.us/img471/7...rrelInv.th.jpg http://img471.imageshack.us/img471/6913/smMag.th.jpg http://img471.imageshack.us/img471/2...etailRH.th.jpg http://img366.imageshack.us/img366/7...open9mo.th.jpg http://img366.imageshack.us/img366/2...ose35ck.th.jpg http://img63.imageshack.us/img63/648...tylh6vv.th.jpg http://img151.imageshack.us/img151/4...ose41di.th.jpg http://img151.imageshack.us/img151/3...ose22ww.th.jpg |

Way to go! Let us know how it shoots. Now all you need is a stock/holster, tromell magazine and a loader. All it takes is money!
Have fun with your new toy. Steve Richards |
Very good Dan!

Looks like a nice one Dan, once you try it with a stock you will be amazed. They are really accurate and fun to shoot. Jerry Burney

I took it out to the range today and must say these Arty's shoot fine indeed.
I had no feed or extraction failures, but on occasion the toggle would fail to lock back on an empty magazine. From a standing 2 handed hold I managed a 1.5 by 3.5 inch group at 20 feet (I was stringing the shots vertically) and a 5 inch group at 50 feet - each group 20 shots. I'd very much like to get a stock Jerry, but I'd have to get a repro for now. My funds for toys dried up suddenly with a massive air conditioning system failure - and we take that very seriously in Phoenix! Regards -- Dan |
