FFL?
As a collector, is it advisable to acquire an FFL license? In detail, how does one apply for such a license? Thanks

It can be very useful to obtain an 03 FFL - Collector of Curios & Relics.
This allows you (in most states) to buy guns out-of-state and have them shipped directly to you. You can also get discounts at some places like Brownell's and Midway. ;) Cost is $30 for 3 years. To get detailed help on the process for getting a license, these forums are helpful: http://p223.ezboard.com/bcurioandrelicfirearmsforum And also go to the ATF site for specific forms and regulations: http://www.atf.treas.gov/firearms/curios/index.htm Regards |
Hi Chuck,
In addtion to the good info. you received above, I decided to get my C&R because my local Type 1 FFL gun shop dealers were charging me anywhere from $ 75 up to $ 150 per gun for them to "transfer" for me. In CA state I also had to wait 10 days before I could take the gun home and could only buy 1 gun per month. That all went away with my C&R (Type 3) license and the yearly CA State COE (certificate of elgibility). However, if I want to buy non-C&R guns, I still have to wait the 10 days. |
Thanks for the reply. I went to both sites and got one form from the forum and requested the other from the ATF web site.
