Nice Navy Leather...
Pricey but nice...
No photo showing the Navy acceptance stamp; maybe under the belt ? http://www.simpsonltd.com/product_in...oducts_id=3791 |
Pete, I don't know why this belt is with this holster...The belt buckle is an Army. If it were Navy it would not be grey but have a gold wash color.
I guess it's a marketing technique, put a belt with it. Jerry Burney |
Actually the Navy wore green painted belt buckles as well.

Tom, While this may be true, the Navy buckle is distinguished by the gold wash. Any green painted buckle standing on it's own is an Army since it cannot be determined to be Navy. Jerry Burney

The gold wash buckles were sailors who were assigned to vessels and for parade; the green were navy coastal arty. Army buckles were field gray or unpainted IIRC.

Pete,
Here's what the back side of the '39 K/M Luger Holster should look like. Makes you wonder why the dealer is not showing a picture of the proof if he's advertising it as a Navy holster. |
Tom, Well you learn something everyday if your not carefull!
Is the green easily recognizable from the grey? Jerry Burney |
Simpson will take it back if it is not properly marked. He is reputable.

Jerry,
The green is a dark green, almost olive, easily differenciated from Army feldgrau. Got the box today; as usual an excellent job. Payment goes out in the AM. Vilen Danle, mein falschimjaeger komrade! Tom A |
Tom, Thanks! I will be on the lookout for one of these for my buckle collection. I was not aware there was any difference!
Thanks, glad you recieved your very rare holsters back. It was a pleasure for me to have them here. I enjoyed working on them very much. Vilen Danle, mein falschimjaeger komrade! Jerry |
