Decent Repro Navy...
|
Pete, Nice spot! This appears to be one of the best repro type 2 Imperial Navy's I have ever seen. In fact, I cannot recall ever seeing a repro type 2. I could only spot five glaring errors. If I needed one of these I would be all over this like white on rice.

Okay...here is what I saw...what are your 5 items ?
My items : 1. Inside of leather did not look like old, aged leather. 2. The longish stitching line along the back between the two belt loops did not look period-correct. 3. The end of the pull-out strap looked odd. There is usually not an extension piece of leather past the leather "knot". 4. Inside the holster, the "thick" portion of leather sewn between the stitching of the belt loops is odd and not the typical placment of the originating end of the pull-out strap. 5. Outside surface of holster looked nice but too new... I did throw some bids in...as I thought it might be neat for my 6" shooter luger...;) |
Here is a really poor quality one :

I think Shattuck was selling these a few years ago as well :

Pete, In addition to your..There is a cut on the back panel. The buckle is too large, on original type 2 holsters it is quite small. The belt loops should be slightly staggered. The line of stitching holding in the bottom of the lifting strap is the worst. Lift straps on these were only held in at the top unlike Artilleries which are sewn under the stock block. All in all not a bad one as repro's go.

Although I will never have the spare change to invest in toys of this caliber. I do enjoy learning about them. Post like this can only help steer people away from fake copies. Keep up the good work.
