Fix chrome plated ejector?
1 Attachment(s)
Is it possible to DIY remove chrome plating on an ejector so I can straw it?
As some of you have gathered from previous posts, I have a re-blued 1923 Commercial and I am slowly correcting what the last refinisher did wrong. It appears the Ejector was chromed. Also the Ejector is one of the few parts I haven't removed yet. Any gotchas? Thanks much -- Dan |
Dan, I'd be surprised if it's plated. Probably just polished "in the white". If it is plated, just bead blast and repolish before strawing. TH

Doh! Occam's Razor. Why would the previous gunsmith go to all the effort to chrome just that one part when polishing will do?
You are quite right. I removed it, and the back side appeared to have been blued. Looks like the blue on the visible side was just polished off - a very high polish. So it is now strawed - an abomination removed. Amazing how fixing that one part makes a huge difference in the overall look of this Luger. Thx -- Dan |
Nice job, Dan! I'm hoping to do that with my '20 Commercial.
A small detail that got left out - how DO you remove the ejector? And if you could shed some light on removing the safety lever, that would help, too... |
