I just bought the E-Book Luger Mechanical features and would like to give an opinion to the rest here.


The price 5,95 USD is that low that nothing really should be expected but I think he had right in his opinions in a number of cases.

His work is pretty ok and will surely help a lot of newbies to understand the Luger better.


BUT:

He states that the Luger triggerpull is of not the best construction and it's not possible to archive a perfect safe, clean and crisp triggerpull lower than 6 lbs.


My personal experince with Luger triggerpulls is that the construction is very intelligent and that the triggerpull can gets as good as any custom 1911 or SIG P210 ever.


So I find it sad that he actually in all his efforts to make a good book continues to build on the old ruomer by the impossible Luger Trigger.

I also own this book and the other two ebooks he has written on the Luger and find them well worth the money. I feel that he states his facts clearly, but like all of us, includes much opinion into an otherwise fine reference.

Hi


First the sear bar and the firing pin have to be "blueprinted".

IF you not have the drawing order them from Rial as it's not possible to archive a good safe triggerpull without knowing the original measurements.

Often some previus owner have grinded down the sear engagement to very small and this can easaly cause full auto and other problems.

When the parts is blueprinted wish not seldom means that the sear hook have to be welded up the engement surfaces have to be policed.


WHen this is all done the hole sear engement can be adjusted on the flat piece of "sheetmetal" on top the trigger. Bending parts of this alternativle as the Swiss did bending the L haped connector (when its unhardend) does all the engement adjustments needed.


Often I adjust the sear bar spring at the end of the adjustments.


This explanation is greatly simplified but I hope you gets my points.

Here is a Lugersear that have just been welded up, another advantage by it is that I am using hardening weldingrod so there is no use for any extra hardening afterwards.

Thanks Hakan, your the greatest! I very much appreciate the information and pictures. I have a 1917/1920 double dated DWM rework that I just bought in March. Now if I can just get up the courage to modify such a fine gun. By the way my ancestors are from Sweden and I have been there while in the Army. I'm new to this forum, but have been following it since March. This site has great people and great information, everybody keep up the good work, I have tons of questions. Again, thanks Hakan!!

Hakan, How do you modify the top area of the trigger? Do you weld the opening closed and then remachine to a smaller demension? Thanks Paul R.

If you can't weld and have tons of money, you can buy a dozen each sear bars, firing pins, triggers & trigger levers and then spend a week interchanging them for different combinations until you come up with the one you like!

You know what? I think that would work. It would be a one time investment because the next one you did would probably use different parts that you already have.

Shouldnt you tell him that there are Two Hundred and Fifty Six combinations . Which would require about Eight of each part .

I would think that a good Gunsmith ie: Hugh , Thor , or HÃ?Â¥kan would probably the least costly solution .

THis is the most simple task of all.

Lowering it with a hammer and rising it with a screwdriver.


Best of all is that even if the triggerpull gets REALLY supergood, it's still safe, as the luger with a blueprinted sear and firingpin always have maximum searengagement when the gun cycles.


Actually there is 3 smart triggerconstructions in the pistolworld, SIG P210, Luger, Pardini PC9 and all of those have maximum sear engagement when cycling .


But; I personally recomends to not go any lower than 3lbs triggerpull, I have never worked with lower triggerpulls as that is the lowest legal for our competitions.

Viggo, I don't think there are many folks who would have the time or patience to really test fit all those combinations. It was not a serious proposal I don't believe. But, anything is possible.
