Navy Holster Rig...
Now on e-Bay :
http://cgi.ebay.com/MINT-WWI-Luger-U...QQcmdZViewItem Does it look like the stuff that is normally sold out of MN State ? |
Hi Pete, this item looks pretty good to me. Even has a scuff on the holster flap. It's coming out of Norridge, Illinois, a bit south of Minnesota.
|
This is a put together mix of real (?) and bogus. For example, the mag pouch and strap are completely wrong. The rod appears to be one of the repros that were flooding the market a few years back. BEWARE.

Tom's eye and experience are really helpful. It sure would help to have this knowledge before dropping big bucks.

Interesting this MN seller on e-Bay uses the same photographic back-ground...as this seller in IL...

Google says that the locations are 396 miles apart... very interesting! The latest seller has never sold anything on ebay before... and the first thing sold is an artillery rig for over $2k! Wow!

Inherited from his grandpa ??? :)

Folks,
This scam is as transparent as bottled water. Tom A |
Boy, buying something from a seller on ebay with ZERO by their names would make me nervous, but for almost 3k !!

Too bad that folks out there on e-Bay will still not make an educational investment in joing such Internet boards as the Luger Forum, Jan's Gun Board, or even the new, member-only, NAPCA web site.
The auction sales ad did claim all items to be "in all original condition"...so maybe the buyer will have some recourse once the package arrives. Here is the text from the ad : " WWI Luger U-Boat Navy Holster / Stock Rig with straps and cleaning rod. This is a rare 1906 Navy Luger Stock and Holster Rig in all original condition. It comes complete with Navy Rod, mag pouch and shoulder straps. Excellent condition. Serial is 6460 on iron. Disc insert is W.D.221 marked. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding! " Curious...if one buys one of those new replica handguns Uberti makes in Italy...one can claim all the parts on this replica gun are "in all original condition"...maybe the term used is a bit misleading...??? On a lighter side, did you notice the seller "Katherine" has a bad case of "man hands"...as the term was made popular on one of the Jerry Seinfeld episodes..? http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/bad_rig_3.jpg http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/bad_rig_2.jpg http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/bad_rig_1.jpg Here is another photo from the MN e-Bay seller...with similar exposed man hand... http://cgi.ebay.com/WWII-1941-Luger-...QQcmdZViewItem http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/mwf_photo_1.jpg |
I am shocked, I tell you, shocked.
