Very Unusual Three Barrel Pistol
While visiting my gunsmith buddy this afternoon, I noticed this very odd looking pistol on a shelf. He was busy with customers, so I helped myself to the weapon. To say the least, it is a bit strange looking. When the shop cleared a bit, I asked him what this was all about. His reply was that someone had just walked in off the street and offered it for sale. Not knowing anything about it and the price seemed fair, he said he just had to have it. It is a muzzle loader and appears to have never been fired. I personally think it was designed to be fired under a card table at dishonest gamblers and take out all the players at one time. (Back in the old west of course). Anyone with any information will be appreciated. Thanks,
Mike http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload...stol_copy3.jpg http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload...tol2_copy1.jpg http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload...tol4_copy3.jpg http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload...tol5_copy2.jpg |
I believe that it was called a, Ducks Foot. Used to quell upriseings on board ships. That one appeares to be a reproduction.

It is a kit made by Classic Arms and available from Dixie Gun Works for $79.95

Pipeman & Ron are right on the nose. We have two of these at the shop.

Thanks guys,
I just gave the site to my gunsmith friend. He was impressed with their new 1911A1's for $289.00. He said he was going to order one and put it through its paces. If it checked out OK, he might order several for stock. Mike |
If one is very drunk and needs to shoot one fellow in front of you, this will probably take care of the 3 fellows one would probably see...:D
|
In the movie Tombstone Val Kilmer playing the part of Doc Holliday pulled two revolvers on a bad guy, he was really drunk and said something to the effect, since I see two of you I figure I'll get one of ya!.

It's a modern repo of a "duck's foot" pistol. Story is they were used by ship's captains in the days of sail.
If a fellow had one of them and positioned himself at one end of a narrow passageway, it would be brave men to be the first to go down that passageway armed with a belaying pin or a cutlass! |
Herb,
Curly Bill said "He's so drunk he's seeing double." Holliday pulls his pistols and says, "I have two guns. One for each of you." |
Hey Mike, where are you finding those 1911's for $289.00. I looked all over Dixie's site and came up empty.
|
Google Classic Arms - you will find their website. They have the 1911s for $289. They are "Rock Island" brand and are made in the Phillipines by Armscor.

I can't remember anything anymore. I knew those were some kind of "foot," but couldn't recall what kind. Thanks for filling that blank for me.
It'd be interesting to run some tests at five, ten, and fifteen feet or so with one of these to see what the spread is. |
