The socalled "Black Widow"
I often come across discussions and rumors on the "Black Widow" P08s of 1941 & 1942. Also I have read many times that the black grips are very abundant as reproductions. So one should beware of fakes.
This leads me to a simple question: Were the black grips on "Black Widows" serialed to the gun? I've seen wooden grips serialed to the gun on an ordinary 1942? So it would be natural to assume that black grips are serialed too? |
No, I have never heard that, being bakelight like material, they would break if etched or stamped.
There is a little info in FAQ in the new collectors section. http://forum.lugerforum.com/showthre...threadid=13121 ED |
Thanks I think I'll spend some time in that FAQ :)

BYF43, I agree that original BP PO8 grips were not serialized at the factory. I did once receive a WW2 set from Norway, that had the 4 digit serial of a luger, scratched inside both sides. TH
