S/42 1938 numbers
I have read/heard that this is one of the bigger production years (1938) for P-08's. In looking at the sticky under military p-08's, it looks like the majority are KM(spelling Kreigsmarine). Two questions really......the KM pistols more collectible than the standard military issue? Does that many KM's made that year make the military version any more collectible? Just from looking at the chart it would seem standard military version was somewhat low that year. Thanks. Lawrence

These are approximates (a few police and sometimes luftwaffe would make total of army lower, also, I looked at S/42 and 42's, otherwise the 1939 navy would be 1 for S/42):
1936 Army 88,500 1936 Navy 1,000 1937 Army 126,000 1937 Navy 200 1938 Army 113,800 1938 Navy 2,400 1939 Army 123,500 1939 Navy 401 known |
Hi,
This document shows an overview (rounded figures) of Mauser production between 1934 and 1945. It's part of an intelligence report, drawn up in may, 1945. Please note that the jump in 9mm pistol production was caused by the P38. http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload...1945_small.jpg |
